Quotes and poetry now live!
I mentioned in a blog post about a month ago that I was considering adding some quotes to this site. More specifically, a whole page dedicated to quotes since I love them. :) Little did I know at the time, but not only are the quotes on the site now, but I decided to add a lot of my writings, i.e. prose, poetry, stories, etc…
I had been sitting on the writings for awhile, debating on whether I should add them or not. A lot of the subject matter that I write about isn’t necessarily everyone’s cup of tea. Enough so, that I put a trigger warning and a disclaimer on the page. As much as I wanted to share the things that I had written, I also understood that it may be too much for some.
I mentioned on the page that writing was a form of therapy for me. The subject matter isn’t necessarily where my mind is, or even where it once was, but just something up there in my head that needed to come out. Either way, it can be very disturbing or very uplifting. It all depends on the day and my mood. When I start to write, I know immediately of the direction I’m heading before I type that first word. I don’t aim for some shock factor. That’s not the point whatsoever. If that was the reason, I would have shared them years ago. I decided to share them now because I think they could possibly be helpful for those dealing with certain mental health issues, or those trying to understand someone else. The writings are a glimpse of where my mind has been and sometimes continue to be, and that it’s OK to be there, and it’s OK to express your feelings through writing if this helps calm your mind.
In my case, getting thoughts out, no matter how ridiculous they might be, is an incredible form of therapy. Just like painting and other art that I like to create. I won’t go into further detail, because that pretty much sums everything up. For those that often get in a similar state of mind and you know where I’m coming from, and just need to talk it out, feel free to reach out to me any time.
