A Little More Free- Original Colored Pencil Drawing

Paper size approximately 10x9 (overall framed size is approximately 18x17)

A blue columbine in full bloom, in all its absolute, stunning glory.

This was drawn on Strathmore 400 Series Artagain (coal black) paper. I used a mixture of blues, purples, yellows, greens, and white colored pencils. Some of the lines are soft and have a glowing appearance, while the remaining lines are very heavy and bold, and almost push through the paper. I like the balance because it gives the flower extra texture and depth.

It’s mounted in a distressed black frame with silver highlights, made from upcycled wood, and double matted (bottom mat is bluish-purple that matches the columbine - top mat is soft white). It’s protected by an ultra-clear piece of UV acrylic that allows you to see everything in very fine detail.
