It's finally happening!

Note, the post below is part of a mailing list. If you’d like to sign up, you can do so here.

Just a reminder for the newsletter subscribers that might have missed my last email. I’ve decided to migrate everything to a ‘blog only’ mailing list. I had been sharing through the newsletter and my blog, basically duplicating a lot of work. Don’t worry, everything will still look similar, and the frequency of emails (every couple of months) won’t necessarily change, but pushing updates from my blog to only one subscriber group allows me flexibility to share things when I need to, instead of being confined to a schedule. This blog post is a perfect example, so let’s start, shall we?

It’s happening!

Back in January 2020, I spoke with the Program Director at Louisville Grows about showing my artwork at their Healthy House Art Gallery that summer. Needless to say, no one could have imagined what would be going on a couple of months later, so the gallery reception/exhibit was put on hold.

In early summer 2021, we spoke again about giving it another try for that fall, only for another spike to delay things once again.

Fast forward to summer 2022. We spoke once again and things are now a go! Third time’s the charm, right?

I’m excited to be working with them and displaying my artwork at their gallery, because I truly believe in their mission, and the whole concept behind Louisville Grows. I feel a lot of my art is themed around what they are all about as an organization.

The universe works in mysterious ways…

The two year delay in between when we originally scheduled the exhibit to happen and when it’s finally happening really helped me grow as an artist, and also allowed me to get a lot of work done that wouldn’t have been part of that first exhibit if it were to have happened. Looking back now, I’m not sure how I would have managed to pull it off, but I’m grateful that they believed in me and continued to reach out to me over the past 2+ years.

I’ve really been working my tale off the past couple of weeks to get a lot of loose ends tied up. As you may, or may not know, I write poetry for all of my paintings. The poems are something I write that reminds me of the painting and what I was thinking in my head at the time. I had quite a few rough drafts started for several of the paintings. When I say rough, they were “rode hard and put up wet” rough, so complete rewrites were in store for most of them.

Each poem belongs to only that particular painting. My idea is to possibly publish a book someday, with all of my paintings on one page and the corresponding poem on the other page. Some poems are happy, some art sad, some are dark, but they all take you on a little journey, which was my whole thought process when I started this adventure.

If you live in the area, and don’t have any plans on Friday, October 7th, feel free to stop by and say ‘hi’. I won’t complain if you find something you want to buy either. I’ll also have some artwork available in the gallery that I don’t have available on my website.

I hope to see you there! Once again- thanks for being a subscriber! You all are the best! If you haven’t subscribed, and want to get updates about my artwork, click here and sign up. Once you sign up, you’ll receive an opt-in email that you’ll have to open/approve. This helps keep my mailing list free from SPAMMERS. Thanks!

P.S. If you use Facebook, you can find out more about the event on Louisville Grows’ page here.
